Product Specific Information

PA1-863 detects histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) from human cells.
It has been successfully used in Western blot and ChIP procedures.
By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~140 kDa protein representing HDAC4 from HeLa cell lysate.
An ~110 kDa band may represent a degradation product.

The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues M(1)SSQSHPDGLSGRDQPVE(18) of human HDAC4.
PA1-863 can be used with blocking peptides PEP-141 and PEP-095.


Target Information

Histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) deacetylates lysine residues on core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4), contributing to epigenetic repression.
It plays an important role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression, and development.
HDAC4 interacts with myocyte enhancer factors (MEF2A, MEF2C, MEF2D) in muscle maturation and is involved in MTA1-mediated epigenetic regulation of ESR1 expression in breast cancer.
Mutations in the HDAC4 gene are associated with Brachydactyly-mental retardation syndrome (BDMR).
