The CSNK2B gene encodes the beta subunit of casein kinase II, a ubiquitous protein kinase involved in regulating metabolic pathways, signal transduction, transcription, translation, and replication. The enzyme is composed of alpha, alpha prime, and beta subunits forming a tetrameric holoenzyme. The beta subunit has regulatory functions and localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus.
