Target Information
The 90 kDa heat shock protein (Hsp90) family of molecular chaperones is a highly conserved group of proteins that play important physiological roles. Hsp90 is involved in numerous cellular processes, particularly in signal transduction.
A homolog of Hsp90, tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated protein (TRAP1), is associated with various proteins in diverse cellular actions.
Immunofluorescence studies show TRAP1 localized in the mitochondria of mammalian cells, and its mitochondrial targeting sequence indicates TRAP1 functions as a mitochondrial matrix protein.
