Target Information

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by neuronal loss and senile plaques composed of aggregated amyloid-beta (Aβ) peptides produced by endoproteolysis of the amyloid precursor protein (APP).
CALHM1 (Calcium Homeostasis Modulator 1) is a multipass transmembrane glycoprotein that regulates cytosolic Ca²⁺ concentration and Aβ levels.
Studies suggest CALHM1 may influence AD risk by modulating Ca²⁺-dependent proteolysis of APP through control of intracellular calcium levels.
