Target Information
Mucin 13 (MUC13) is an epithelial transmembrane protein containing a SEA extracellular domain associated with O-glycosylation. SEA-modules are found in proteins such as agrin, enterokinase, perlecan, mucin 1, and others. These proteins commonly exist in heavily glycosylated environments and often contain O-glycosidic-linked carbohydrates like heparan sulfate, contributing to their molecular mass. The SEA module may regulate or assist in binding to neighboring carbohydrate moieties. Enterokinase, for example, is a mosaic protease composed of distinct domains involved in intestinal digestion.
