Product Specific Information

A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45817 was sufficient for detection of 6-Nitrotryptophan in 1 µg of 6-Nitrotryptophan conjugated to BSA by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
Specific for 6-Nitrotryptophan modified proteins. Does not cross-react with 7-Ketocholesterol modified proteins.

Target Information

6-Nitrotryptophan (6-NO2-Trp) is one of the most stable and major ONOO⁻-modified amino acids. Increasing evidence suggests that nitrotryptophan plays a significant role in cellular regulation under nitrosative stress.
Reactive nitrogen species (RNS) are formed in various diseases such as atherosclerosis, inflammation, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases.
Peroxynitrite (ONOO⁻), a potent biological oxidant formed by the reaction between nitric oxide (NO) and superoxide (O₂⁻), can induce nitration of aromatic amino acids such as Tyr, Trp, Phe, and His, leading to modulation of protein functions.
