Target Information
Nuclear factor kB p65 (NF-kB p65) is encoded by the RELA gene located on chromosome 11 in humans. Also known as RelA (v-rel avian reticuloendotheliosis viral oncogene homolog A), it belongs to the Rel family of proteins. NF-kB p65 is one of the two subunits of NF-kB (Nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells), which forms heterodimers with subunits such as p50 or p52. Upon TNF alpha receptor activation, IKK becomes phosphorylated and subsequently phosphorylates I kB, leading to its proteasomal degradation. NF-kB p65 plays a key role in the transcription of the immunoglobulin kappa gene in mature B-lymphoid cells.
