Target Information
NIPA2 encodes a protein that functions as a selective Mg(2+) transporter. The NIPA2 gene is located near the imprinted domain in the Prader-Willi syndrome deletion region of chromosome 15. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants, and pseudogenes are found on chromosomes 3, 7, and 21.
Diseases associated with NIPA2 include Angelman Syndrome and Prader-Willi Syndrome.
