Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This affinity purified antibody is directed against human Retinoblastoma-like protein 2. A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with rat, human, and mouse based on 100% sequence homology.
Target Information
RBL2 (also known as p130) or Retinoblastoma-like protein 2 is a key regulator of cell division entry. It is directly involved in heterochromatin formation by maintaining chromatin structure and stabilizing histone methylation. RBL2 recruits histone methyltransferases KMT5B and KMT5C, leading to epigenetic transcriptional repression. It controls histone H4 Lys20 trimethylation and acts as a transcription repressor by recruiting chromatin-modifying enzymes to promoters. RBL2 inhibits E2F-mediated trans-activation and associates preferentially with E2F5.
