Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by antigen affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Troponin (Tn) is the central regulatory protein of striated muscle contraction. It consists of three components:
- Tn-I: Inhibitor of actomyosin ATPase
- Tn-T: Contains the binding site for tropomyosin
- Tn-C: Binds calcium ions
The binding of calcium to Tn-C abolishes the inhibitory action of Tn on actin filaments. Calcium-ion uptake by troponin-C induces allosteric changes in the muscle thin filament, enabling actin-myosin interaction, ATP hydrolysis, and tension generation.
