Target Information
Steroid and thyroid hormones and retinoic acid regulate a complex array of gene expression via intracellular receptor transcription factors belonging to the ligand-dependent nuclear receptor superfamily.
Associated proteins known as coactivators and corepressors modulate transcription activity of these receptors.
Glucocorticoid receptor interacting protein-1 (GRIP1), also known as Transcription Intermediary Factor 2 (TIF2), is a member of the transcriptional coactivator family that includes SRC-1 and AIB-1.
GRIP1 interacts with and stimulates transcriptional activity of multiple receptors, including retinoic acid, retinoid X, vitamin D, mineralocorticoid, glucocorticoid, thyroid hormone, androgen, estrogen, progesterone, and peroxisome proliferator activated receptors.
It contains several conserved LXXLL/LLXXL motifs critical for receptor–coactivator interactions.
