Target Information
Alkaline phosphatase (ALPL) is a homodimeric enzyme (86 kDa) containing two zinc atoms per monomer essential for catalytic activity. It functions optimally at alkaline pH and is found in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. ALP plays roles in liver metabolism and skeletal development, and in bacteria, it provides inorganic phosphate. In yeast, it is useful for studying membrane protein sorting.
