Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) is a chymotrypsin-like serine protease of the kallikrein family, produced by prostate epithelial cells and abundant in seminal fluid.
It can be detected in sera of patients with prostatic carcinoma and is predominantly complexed to alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT).
A higher proportion of PSA-ACT complex is found in prostate cancer compared to benign prostate hyperplasia.
PSA is used to confirm prostatic acinar cell origin in primary and metastatic carcinoma and to exclude non-prostatic mimics.
