Target Information

Protein: Delta-like protein 3 (DLL3)
Function: Ligand for the Notch signaling pathway; inhibits primary neurogenesis; involved in somite boundary formation during segmentation of the paraxial mesoderm.
Clinical relevance:
Defects in DLL3 cause Spondylocostal dysostosis autosomal recessive type 1 (SCDO1), leading to truncal shortening, abnormal spinal curvature, and sometimes a plagiocephaly-torticollis sequence. DLL3 may also play a role in directing neuronal differentiation pathways.
