Target Information
This gene encodes a subunit of mitochondrial ATP synthase, which catalyzes ATP synthesis using the proton electrochemical gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane during oxidative phosphorylation.
ATP synthase consists of two linked multi-subunit complexes:
- F1 (soluble catalytic core): composed of α, β, γ, δ, ε subunits (3α, 3β, and one each of γ, δ, ε)
- Fo (membrane-spanning proton channel): composed of a, b, c subunits
This antibody targets the γ subunit of the catalytic core.
Alternative splicing results in different isoforms. A pseudogene is located on chromosome 14.
