Target Information
This gene belongs to the regulatory factor X gene family, encoding transcription factors with a conserved winged helix DNA-binding domain. The RFX1 protein is related to RFX2, RFX3, RFX4, and RFX5, functioning as a transcriptional activator that binds DNA as a monomer or heterodimer with RFX2, RFX3, and RFX5. It binds to X-boxes of MHC class II genes and is essential for their expression, and can also bind to an inverted repeat required for hepatitis B virus gene expression.
