Target Information
p27 Kip1 functions as a negative regulator of G1 expression and may mediate TGFβ-induced G1 arrest. It is a key regulator of cell cycle progression and inhibits cyclin E- and cyclin A-CDK2 complexes. p27 Kip1 forms complexes with cyclin D-CDK4, contributing to assembly, stability, and activation modulation. Depending on phosphorylation state and stoichiometry, it can act as either inhibitor or activator. The protein (~27 kDa) undergoes CDK-dependent phosphorylation and ubiquitination by SCF complexes, facilitating transition from quiescence to proliferation.
