Target Information
TRPCs are mammalian homologs of the Drosophila transient receptor potential (trp) protein and function as ion channels mediating capacitative calcium entry. TRP-PLIK is a dual-function protein acting both as an ion channel and a kinase. It conducts calcium and monovalent cations, depolarizing cells and increasing intracellular calcium. Its kinase activity is essential for channel function, dependent on intracellular ATP and affected by kinase mutations.
