Product Specific Information
Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material. After reconstitution, store aliquots at -20°C for higher stability, or at 4°C with an appropriate antibacterial agent. Glycerol (1:1) may be added for additional stability. Avoid repetitive freeze/thaw cycles.
Target Information
Parkinson’s disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder after Alzheimer’s, affecting about 1% of people over 65 and 3% over 75. Mutations in SNCAIP, encoding synuclein alpha interacting protein (Synphilin-1), are linked to Parkinson’s disease. Synphilin-1 interacts with alpha-synuclein in neurons and contains multiple protein-protein interaction domains, including ankyrin-like motifs and coiled-coil regions. Expression patterns in mouse and human tissues are similar. Synphilin-1 plays a role in aggregate formation, cytotoxicity, and may be ubiquitylated by Dorfin in the pathogenic process. It is involved in synaptic function, protein degradation, and neurodegeneration mechanisms in Parkinson’s disease.
