This antibody detects endogenous levels of total TRPV6 protein.


Target Information

Calcium-permeable channels such as TRPV6 play key roles in neurotransmission, muscle contraction, and exocytosis by providing calcium as an intracellular second messenger. Depending on tissue type, transcellular calcium transport may be regulated by vitamin D, parathyroid hormone (PTH), or calcitonin (CALCA).
TRPV6 is a calcium-selective cation channel involved in Ca²⁺ uptake in various tissues, including intestinal reabsorption. The channel is activated by low internal calcium levels and exhibits inward rectification. Inactivation mechanisms include both rapid Ca²⁺-dependent and slower Ca²⁺-calmodulin-dependent processes, potentially regulated by phosphorylation.
In vitro, TRPV6 is slowly inhibited by Mg²⁺ in a voltage-independent manner. Heteromeric assembly with TRPV5 modifies channel properties, and TRPV5–TRPV6 heteromultimers exhibit voltage-dependent gating.
TRPV6 interacts with TRPV5, S100A10, and likely with the ANXA2–S100A10 heterotetramer, which is required for trafficking to the plasma membrane. It also interacts with BSPRY and calmodulin.
