Product Specific Information
MA1-089 detects eIF4E in human and mouse samples and has been successfully used in Western blot, immunofluorescence, immunocytochemistry, and immunoprecipitation applications.
MA1-089 does not react with rat eIF4E.
The immunogen is full-length human eIF4E produced in HEK293T cells.
Target Information
eIF4E is a eukaryotic translation initiation factor involved in enhanced translational efficiency, splicing, mRNA stability, and RNA nuclear export.
All eukaryotic mRNAs contain the 7-methylguanosine cap structure (m7GpppX) at their 5′ ends, which EIF4E recognizes to direct ribosomes to the cap structure.
EIF4E (24 kDa) exists in free form and as part of the EIF4F complex, which also includes EIF4A (50 kDa, ATPase/RNA helicase) and EIF4G (220 kDa).
EIF4E is the rate-limiting component in the mRNA–ribosome binding step of protein synthesis.
