Target Information
Eotaxin-3 (CCL26, Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 26) is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family. Chemokines control migration and tissue localization of specific cell types expressing their cognate receptors.
Eotaxin-3 is chemotactic for eosinophils and basophils and acts via the CCR3 receptor. It is expressed in various tissues including heart, lung, and ovary, and in endothelial cells stimulated by interleukin 4.
The gene encoding this chemokine is located on human chromosome 7. Eotaxin-3 induces migration of eosinophils and basophils only at a 10-fold higher concentration than eotaxin.
