Target Information
Metadherin (Metastasis adhesion protein), also known as MTDH or LYRIC (Lysine-Rich CEACAM1 co-isolated), localizes with tight junction proteins ZO-1 and occludin in polarized epithelial cells. It functions as a regulatory component during tight junction maturation rather than as a structural element. Metadherin is overexpressed in breast cancer tissues and xenografts, with lower expression in normal breast tissue. It binds lung vasculature via a C-terminal extracellular domain segment, and inhibition of this interaction has been reported to suppress breast cancer metastasis.
