Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with human CD10, a widely-expressed cell-surface metalloprotease responsible for cleavage of multiple peptide hormones at target tissues. CD10 is also a common marker for acute lymphocytic leukemia.
Target Information
CD10 (Common Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Antigen, CALLA) is a cell surface enzyme with neutral metalloendopeptidase activity that inactivates various biologically active peptides. It is expressed on lymphoblastic, Burkitt’s, and follicular germinal center lymphomas, immature B cells in adult bone marrow, and cells from patients with chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML).
CD10 is also found on breast myoepithelial cells, bile canaliculi, fibroblasts, and is highly expressed on kidney and gut epithelial brush border cells.
It is a 100 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein, encoded by a single-copy gene of over 45 kb. The 5′ untranslated region of the CD10 gene is alternatively spliced into four mRNA transcripts, with no effect on the coding region.
Diseases associated with CD10 dysfunction include spinocerebellar ataxia 43 and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
