Target Information
CTDSP1 is a class 2C phosphatase with activity dependent on the conserved DxD motif. Expression of CTDSP1 inhibits activated transcription from several promoter-reporter constructs, while phosphatase-inactive mutants enhance transcription. REST/NRSF complex recruits SCPs to neuronal genes containing RE1 elements, leading to silencing in nonneuronal cells. SCP activity is an evolutionarily conserved transcriptional regulator that globally represses neuronal genes.
