Target Information
AAK1 serine/threonine kinase is a member of the NAK family and plays a regulatory role in endocytosis.
It belongs to the SNF1 subfamily of Ser/Thr protein kinases.
AAK1 interacts with and phosphorylates a subunit of the AP-2 complex, promoting AP-2 binding to sorting signals in membrane-bound receptors and facilitating receptor endocytosis.
Its kinase activity is stimulated by clathrin.
