The Applied Biosystems™ Human ACTB (beta actin) Endogenous Control (VIC™/MGB Probe, Primer Limited) is designed as an endogenous control for relative gene expression quantification in cDNA samples when used with other gene expression assays. The probe is labeled with VIC™ dye and MGB quencher, and the primers are limited. Suitable for both multiplex and singleplex PCR reactions.

This control can be used with:

TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls

TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls eliminate the need for assay design and testing by providing pre-designed probe and primer sets. These controls enable normalization of sample RNA or DNA amounts in quantitative gene expression experiments.

Complete Solution for Quantitative Gene Expression

TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls simplify the selection of appropriate controls for quantifying gene expression across common human, mouse, rat, and eukaryotic genes, reducing trial-and-error in control selection.

Simple to Use

All components are QC-tested and provided as a single 20X mix, compatible with universal two-step RT-PCR conditions. Simply add TaqMan™ Universal PCR Master Mix (with or without AmpErase™ UNG) and cDNA sample to obtain sensitive and reproducible data on Applied Biosystems instruments such as:

• 7900HT, 7300, 7500 Real-Time PCR Systems
• 7000 and 7700 Sequence Detection Systems

Flexible Offering

Each endogenous control uses 5′ nuclease chemistry and offers flexibility in dye and quencher combinations:

• FAM™ dye-labeled TaqMan™ MGB probe (250 nM) with two unlabeled primers (900 nM each)
• VIC™ dye-labeled TaqMan™ MGB probe (250 nM) with two unlabeled primers (150 nM each, primer limited)
• VIC™ dye-labeled TAMRA™ probe (250 nM) with two unlabeled primers (150 nM each, primer limited)

Choosing the Right Endogenous Control

Endogenous controls normalize target gene expression by correcting for cDNA loading differences. Ensure the control is consistently expressed across all samples. For multiplexing, the control gene expression level should be greater than that of the target.

Multiplex vs. Singleplex PCR

TaqMan™ Endogenous Controls with VIC™ reporter dyes are primer limited and suitable for multiplexing when the control gene is more abundantly expressed than the target. FAM™ reporter dye-labeled controls are not primer limited and are intended for singleplex use.
