This antibody is directed against mouse GPx4 protein.
A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with GPx4 from mouse, rat, and guinea pig (100% homology with immunizing sequence).
Cross-reactivity with human GPx4 is predicted (94% homology).
Reactivity with other species is not known.

Target Information

Glutathione peroxidase catalyzes the reduction of hydrogen peroxide, organic hydroperoxide, and lipid peroxides by reduced glutathione, protecting cells from oxidative damage.
Human plasma glutathione peroxidase is a selenium-containing enzyme where the UGA codon encodes selenocysteine.
In rats, alternative splicing and transcription initiation produce isoforms localized to the nucleus, mitochondrion, and cytoplasm.
In humans, experimental evidence supports alternative splicing, though mitochondrial and nuclear targeting peptide cleavage sites require further verification.
