- p14ARF tends to run slightly higher than the theoretical molecular weight of 14 kDa.
- Suggested positive controls: BT549 cells or HeLa whole cell extract, antigen standard for CDKN2A (transient overexpression lysate).
Target Information
The INK4a locus on chromosome 9p21 is frequently affected in human tumors. It encodes two structurally distinct tumor suppressor proteins:
- p16INK4a
- ARF (p14ARF in human, p19ARF in mouse)
These proteins interact with upstream tumor suppressors (retinoblastoma protein and p53) to regulate cell cycle arrest and senescence.
p14ARF (or p19ARF in mouse) induces G1 and G2 phase arrest in a p53-dependent manner.
Differences in ARF function between species may contribute to varying tumor susceptibilities.
