This antibody recognizes and binds porcine CD163.
Target Information
CD163 (M130 antigen, Ber-Mac3, Ki-M8, SM4) is a 130 kDa membrane glycoprotein, belonging to the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich superfamily. It acts as a receptor for the hemoglobin-haptoglobin complex and protects tissues from oxidative damage caused by free hemoglobin. CD163 is expressed on monocytes and macrophages, particularly during the late phase of inflammation. Expression is regulated by cytokines such as IL-10, IL-6, and dexamethasone, and can be shed from the cell surface under stimulation by LPS or PMA. CD163 binding is calcium- and pH-dependent and triggers intracellular signaling cascades leading to IL6 and CSF1 secretion.
