Target Information
PACS-1 (CRA_a) is a 963 amino acid regulatory protein involved in protein trafficking and belongs to the PACS family. It functions as a coat protein controlling the subcellular localization of trans-Golgi network (TGN) membrane proteins containing acidic cluster sorting motifs. PACS-1 is implicated in HIV-1 Nef-mediated removal of MHC-I from the cell surface to the TGN, aiding immune evasion. It also regulates endosome-to-Golgi trafficking of furin and mannose-6-phosphate receptor by linking their acidic-cluster-containing cytoplasmic domains with the adapter-protein complex-1 (AP-1). PACS-1 is typically localized in the Golgi apparatus, trans-Golgi network, and paranuclear region, and is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues.
