Target Information
NME4 is a protein kinase that transfers a phosphate group from ATP to an acceptor amino acid in substrate proteins. Through this mechanism, protein kinases mediate most signal transduction in eukaryotic cells, regulating metabolism, transcription, cell cycle, cytoskeleton rearrangement, cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
The protein kinase family includes over 500 gene products and is classified into eight major groups based on sequence comparison of tyrosine (PTK) or serine/threonine (STK) kinase catalytic domains. The AGC kinase group consists of 63 kinases, including PKA, PKG, PKC, RAC/Akt, ARK, and RSK families.
