Target Information
SEPN1은 활성 부위에 셀레노시스테인(Sec) 잔기를 포함하는 셀레노단백질입니다. SEPN1 유전자 변이는 다핵심근병(multiminicore disease)과 척추 강직 및 제한성 호흡 증후군을 동반한 선천성 근이영양증의 주요 표현형을 유발합니다.
이 유전자는 UGA 코돈을 통해 셀레노시스테인을 암호화하며, selenoprotein 유전자의 3' UTR에는 SECIS(stem-loop structure)가 존재하여 UGA를 stop 신호가 아닌 Sec 코돈으로 인식하게 합니다.
두 가지 상이한 아이소폼을 암호화하는 대체 스플라이싱 전사체가 확인되었습니다.
