Target Information
Bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs) are members of the TGF beta superfamily involved in cartilage and bone formation. BMP-8 is thought to play a role in early development, as its expression is not typically found in adult tissues. Two BMP-8 proteins exist — BMP-8A and BMP-8B (also known as OP-2) — encoded by distinct genes.
