Target Information
Interleukin 12A (IL-12A) is a signaling cytokine belonging to the Interleukin-6 protein superfamily. It is a 35 kDa subunit of the heterodimeric cytokine IL-12 and exhibits a wide range of biological activities. IL-12A acts as a growth factor for activated T and NK cells, enhances NK/lymphokine-activated killer cell activity, and stimulates IFN-γ production. It contributes to Th1 and Th2 differentiation and regulates tyrosine phosphorylation of Stat4. IL-12A signaling in innate immunity involves nitric oxide synthase 2A. Together with EBI3, IL-12A forms interleukin-35 (IL-35), produced by Treg cells and required for maximal suppressive activity.
