The Human CD48 (BLAST-1) Simplex ProcartaPlex™ Kit measures CD48 (BLAST-1) protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits to create customized multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation.
When combining multiple Simplex kits (not using a pre-configured Multiplex Panel), only one buffer kit (sold separately) is required per assay plate regardless of plex size.

ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on the sandwich ELISA principle, using two specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of a single protein to enable simultaneous quantitation of multiple protein targets using a Luminex instrument.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for the simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in plasma, serum, cell culture supernatants, and other fluids.

The Luminex beads are internally dyed with red and infrared fluorophores to create spectrally unique signatures identifiable by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).
Each bead is conjugated with antibodies specific for a single target protein, allowing multiplexed detection via biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).

Unlike traditional ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is bead-conjugated, not adsorbed to a plate well, enabling free-floating reactions and efficient multiplexing.
Detection instruments use dual lasers — one to identify bead signatures and another to quantify RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration.

ProcartaPlex multiplex panels are available across six species (human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, canine).
