Target Information
MEIS1
Acts as a transcriptional regulator of PAX6 and activator of PF4 in complex with PBX1 or PBX2. Required for hematopoiesis, megakaryocyte lineage development, and vascular patterning. May function as a cofactor for HOXA7 and HOXA9 in myeloid leukemia induction.
MEIS2
Involved in transcriptional regulation through binding to HOX or PBX proteins to form dimers or complexes with DNA-bound PBX/HOX dimers. Isoform 3 participates in PDX1:PBX1b:MEIS2b complex activity in pancreatic acinar cells. Also implicated in EPHA8 transcriptional activation and regulation of myeloid differentiation. Can bind and activate DRD1 promoter sequence 5'-TGACAG-3'; isoform 5 lacks this activity.
