Target Information
EEF2K (Eukaryotic Elongation Factor 2 Kinase) is a highly conserved serine/threonine kinase involved in the calmodulin signaling pathway. Its activity is increased in several cancers, including breast cancer. EEF2K regulates protein synthesis by controlling peptide chain elongation through phosphorylation of elongation factor EEF2, rendering EEF2 inactive and reducing the rate of protein synthesis. Activation occurs via upstream kinases such as AMPK or TRPM7.
