Product Specific Information

This peptide corresponds to 19 amino acids near the carboxy terminus of FGFR3.
PEP-1617 can be used as a blocking peptide with polyclonal antibody PA5-34574.
For use as a blocking peptide in Western blot, incubate the peptide with equal volume of antibody for 30 min at 37ºC.

Target Information

FGFR3 is a member of the FGFR family of receptor tyrosine kinases. This family regulates cellular functions such as angiogenesis, mitogenesis, osteogenesis, myogenesis, carcinogenesis, cellular differentiation, and tissue repair after injury.
FGFR family members differ in ligand affinities and tissue distribution. The full-length protein includes:

  • Extracellular region with three immunoglobulin-like domains
  • Single hydrophobic membrane-spanning segment
  • Cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase domain

The extracellular portion interacts with fibroblast growth factors, triggering downstream signals that influence mitogenesis and differentiation. FGFR3 plays a role in bone development and maintenance. Mutations in this gene are associated with craniosynostosis and various skeletal dysplasias. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
