Target Information
Complement factor C3 consists of alpha and beta chains and plays a central role in the complement cascade. It is involved in both the alternative and classical pathways, forming C3 convertases (C3bBb and C4b2a) that cleave C3 into C3a and C3b. Further degradation yields fragments such as C3d, C3g, and C3c. C3 is an acute phase protein produced by various tissues, including renal epithelial cells and hepatocytes.
