Product Specific Information
MA1-70041 detects CD8a in mouse samples.
It has been successfully used in flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry (PFA-fixed paraffin & frozen) procedures.
PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections require antigen retrieval prior to immunostaining.
The MA1-70041 immunogen is mouse Ly-2 thymocytes.
Store at 4ºC for short term. For extended storage aliquot and store at -20ºC. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
Target Information
Cluster of differentiation 8 (CD8) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin family that plays an essential role in T cell signal transduction, differentiation, and activation.
CD8 is predominantly expressed on T cells as a disulfide-linked heterodimer of CD8α and CD8β, functioning as a co-receptor for MHC class I molecules.
It is also found on subsets of T cells, NK cells, monocytes, and dendritic cells as CD8α homodimers.
Upon MHC-I/peptide complex ligation, CD8 recruits Lck kinase, leading to lymphokine production and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) activation.
Activated CTLs are critical for pathogen and tumor cell clearance. Differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into CTLs is enhanced by IL-2, IL-12, and TGF-β1.
