Target Information
The Vesicular GABA Amino Acid Transporter (VGAT) is responsible for the transport of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA into synaptic vesicles (McIntire et al., 1997).
VGAT (also known as Vesicular Inhibitory Amino Acid Transporter, VIAAT) is expressed in synaptic vesicles of both glycine and GABAergic synapses throughout the CNS (Chaudhry et al., 1998).
Expression of VGAT changes during development and in response to neuronal activity patterns (De et al., 2005).
