mCherry is a monomeric fluorescent protein used as a tracer in biotechnology to track molecular and cellular components. It absorbs light at 587 nm and emits at 610 nm. The protein shows high photostability and rapid maturation (t₀.₅ ≈ 15 minutes), enabling early visualization after translation.
