Target Information
SIM1 and SIM2 genes are homologs of the Drosophila single-minded (sim) gene.
SIM1 transcript is detected primarily in fetal kidney among various adult and fetal tissues.
Given the role of sim in Drosophila neurogenesis, the human SIM gene is proposed to be involved in dysmorphic features, brain development abnormalities, and potential links to Down syndrome-related neurodevelopmental disorders.
