Background
Kinesin family member 1C (KIF1C) is a member of the kinesin-like protein family, which are microtubule-dependent molecular motors responsible for organelle transport within cells and chromosome movement during cell division. Mutations in this gene are associated with autosomal recessive spastic ataxia 2.
