Background
Ribosomes are organelles responsible for catalyzing protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits are composed of four RNA species and approximately 80 distinct proteins. The RPL35 gene encodes a ribosomal protein component of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L29P family. It is localized in the cytoplasm. As with many ribosomal protein genes, multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome.
