Background
- Function: Does not have 2'-5'-OAS activity, but binds double-stranded RNA and DNA.
- Induction: Upregulated by interferons.
- Similarity: Belongs to the 2-5A synthetase family; contains two ubiquitin-like domains.
- Subunit Interaction: Specifically interacts with the ligand binding domain of thyroid receptor (TR). TRIP14 interaction does not require thyroid hormone. Also binds MBD1.
- Tissue Specificity: Expressed in most tissues, with highest levels in primary blood leukocytes and other hematopoietic tissues, colon, stomach, and testis.
- Caution: This may not be the true ortholog of mouse OASL.
