Target Information
THADA (thyroid adenoma associated), also known as GITA, is a 1,953 amino acid protein expressed in testis, thyroid, pancreas, stomach, and small intestine. Chromosomal aberrations in the THADA gene are associated with benign thyroid adenomas, suggesting a role in tumorigenesis. The THADA gene maps to human chromosome 2, which contains over 1,400 genes and accounts for nearly 8% of the human genome. Mutations in chromosome 2-localized genes such as ABCA12, ABCG5, and ABCG8 are linked to disorders including Harlequin ichthyosis and sitosterolemia.
