Target Information

ROS1 is a tyrosine kinase that functions as a growth or differentiation factor receptor. Protein kinases are enzymes that transfer a phosphate group from a phosphate donor, generally the γ phosphate of ATP, onto an acceptor amino acid in a substrate protein. Through this mechanism, protein kinases mediate most signal transduction in eukaryotic cells, regulating metabolism, transcription, cell cycle, cytoskeletal rearrangement, apoptosis, and differentiation.

With over 500 gene products, the protein kinase family is one of the largest in eukaryotes, classified into 8 major groups based on catalytic domain sequences. The tyrosine kinase (TK) group regulates cell-cell interactions such as differentiation, adhesion, motility, and death. Approximately 90 TK genes have been sequenced, including 58 receptor protein TKs (e.g., EGFR, EPH, FGFR, PDGFR, TRK, VEGFR) and 32 cytosolic TKs (e.g., ABL, FAK, JAK, SRC).
