Prohibitin은 진화적으로 보존된 유전자로, 세포 증식의 음성 조절자이자 종양 억제 인자로 알려져 있습니다. PHB 유전자의 돌연변이는 산발적 유방암과 관련이 있으며, 두 가지 전사체 형태로 발현됩니다. 긴 3’ 비번역 영역을 가진 전사체는 증식 조직과 세포에서 더 높은 수준으로 존재하며, 이 영역이 전사 조절 RNA로 기능할 가능성이 제시됩니다.
